Cheryl Stinson's Statements
Cheryl Stinson was very new to the jail and having her transfer from another department was refreshing as she was articulate and intelligent. Her statement deals with her first jail conference and the per diem she reconciled on her travel versus what I did with mine.
As her statement notes, I know a lot of people in the corrections business and when a meal is not part of the paid for conference, I may attend a dinner by invitation, but I usually network more than eat and when the event is over, I always go out for something, usually something fast food and return to the hotel. I’ve been doing it that way for years. The travel policy is on this website.
Stinson’s second statement is only two pages and the big question from Withey had to do about her observations of what I ate! They said I “ate a lot.” I don’t understand what they know about what I ate or what was filling to me! I know that I went out afterwards to get something to eat. Stinson didn’t know many people and the other question Withey asked was whether alcohol was served and if anyone got out of hand. That would have been a subjective response on Stinson’s part. I have known this PHS employee for years who may have had one too many drinks. There were several other persons having dinner that evening and the entire event was fun and entertaining. That’s why I said “entertaining” to Holliman in the letter that I dictated to Gallagher and he would understand completely. .
